Greetings!!
Taken up blanket distribution project again. This time we want to give in M N J Cancer Hospital.
Now that we are going to end the year, I thought people might have some fund reserved for service activities and being winter, blanket distribution is one ideal project which people consider.
Pl. go through this URL: http://wp.me/p1Epu-30
We, TMAD, want to distribute a minimum of 100 blankets to the patients who stay in M N J Oncology Center shelter for radiation treatment. The minimum requirement is 200 but we are trying to raise money for at least 100 blankets.
Each blanket cost would be Rs. 115 (from our regular supplier). We are trying other sources as well. The price can be Rs. 100 to Rs. 105. Not sure yet.
If we assume the price would be Rs. 115 only, we should raise Rs. 11,500 for 100 blankets and Rs. 23,000.

Around 5000 children are expected to attend the function to meet Dr. Kalam. Many distinguished guests from industry and political circles will be present. The school kits donation drive has been running for the last one month by involving thousands of school children and various corporate institutions. The foundation expects to send around 6000 school kits in the first phase and expects to collect around 40,000 school kits in the ongoing campaign involving enterprises as well as various academic institutions. Meeting on 9 th December

Hello Friends,

Greetings.

We all met on Sep 9th and exactly after 3 months we are organizing one
more meeting.

While the Sep 9th meeting is for all groups that we know, this is
clearly for active volunteers who can and are willing to spare two
days per month for social work. Also for the groups and individuals
who do not have a clearly marked agenda or area of interest.

As we gain some experience, we are now determined to conduct meeting
very formally and also will be time bound.

Uniqueness:

1. Will be a day long meeting
2. People can participate virtually too
(Interested members are requested to login in yahoo/google messengers)

దీపాలార్పేద్దామా????

There is a story from Mumbai about Batti Bandh.

Batti Bandh is an entirely voluntary event taking place on the 15th of
December between 7:30 & 8:30 p.m. This event is aimed at requesting
all of Mumbai to stand up for a cause that is greater than all of us.
All you need to do is switch off lights and appliances in your home,
shop, office, school, college or anywhere you are for 1 hour to take a
stand against global warming. Just 1 hour.

Shall we do the same in Hyderabad?

Thank you.

We all know that we wanted to keep this forum to share news/events/acvities of different social work groups. This is an invitation to an event organized by friends2support.org . Please participate and show your solidarity. Let us start a good practise to support the other groups and develop the notion that all of us are together.

Invitation from: friends2support.org team.

Every Step We Take... Adds A Drop of Blood to fill Ocean of Need

2nd Anniversary.

On the 14th of Nov 2007, friends2support will be celebrating its 2nd anniversary. It has been a remarkable journey so far and we have grown in leaps and bounds since making a small beginning in Guntur. Today we have close to 20,000 registered voluntary donors and we have helped save many lives but the journey has only just begun and there is lots more to do. To celebrate the occasion of our 2nd anniversary, we are planning to conduct an event on 11th Nov, a Sunday because 14th happens to be a working day.

The event: A 1 km backward walk, followed by a 4 km forward walk.
The Venue: Necklace Road
Time: 7 am

The significance:
The backward walk signifies the fact that even in the 21st century, with such advancement in the society, people are still dying due to the lack of blood in times of emergency. Moreover, a vast majority of the population are still apprehensive to donate blood fearing that it would affect their health. During the backward walk we would also be spreading an awareness of the need to donate blood through slogans and also educate people with the medical facts about blood donation through pamphlets, posters and banners.

The forward walk signifies that there is a ray of hope, a solution to this problem, being provided by friends2support. We as an organisation are providing the platform to connect the needy to the donor thus ensuring that lives are not lost due to lack of blood. Moreover, friends2support also educates people on the positives of blood donation, the number of lives one donation can save and the fact that blood donation does not harm anyone.

To make this walk a huge success, we request each of you to join us on the day to show your support to the cause. If you want to volunteer or help in anyway, do let us know.

Thanking you all,
Team friends2support.org

Thank you.

with regards,
